“The systemic challenges of Roma women in exercising their health and social rights”

In December 2022, an event organized by HERA and the Association of Initiative for Women’s Rights from Shuto Orizari was held, where “Systemic challenges for Roma women in the exercise of health and social rights” were presented, through eight personal experiences collected in the period January – July 2022 year. A picture was given of the treatment of Roma women by the institutions, that is, the case studies showed that these citizens continue to face a series of challenges in the access, availability and functionality of the services – which in some cases led to a fatal outcome.

“Comparative Analysis of Access and Services to Sexual and Reproductive Health of Romani Women from Shuto Orizari” provides an overview of the findings of the “Community Scored Map” survey conducted by HERA and the Initiative every year since 2012.
After the presentation of the findings, there was a discussion with the present representatives from the relevant institutions and civil organizations to find an appropriate mechanism for solving the identified obstacles in access to health and social justice.

Both publications result from projects supported by the Open Society Foundation – Macedonia.
