United Nations Population Fund or UNPFA is conducting a project titled “Prevention and protection from gender-based violence in the Republic of North Macedonia “. The main goal is to support the Government of North Macedonia with building and implementing integrated policies for gender-based violence (GBV) throughout the country, in accordance to the Istanbul convention.
As a result of this project, a successful model of collaboration will be replicated with more stakeholders in establishing a shelter center in at least two other municipalities in the Republic of North Macedonia. Accordingly, collaborating with the partner organization Initiative for the Rights of women from Shuto Orizari, Skopje, UNFPA aims to strengthen local support services to victims and survivors of gender-based violence, effectively implementing and strengthening the provision of such services in the identified municipalities.
Position: Assistant for the local community
Location: Shuto Orizari, Skopje
Duration of the assignment: 6 months (from September 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024)
Description of tasks: Under the direct supervision of the UNFPA program analyst and daily supervision of UNFPA’s partner organization, the UN Community Volunteer will:
- Attend training on the activities carried out by the partner organization of UNFPA in
the chosen municipality with an emphasis on activities related to gender-based violence (GBV).
● Assists UNFPA partner organization in organizing local meetings
community that would include municipal stakeholders, civil organizations, religious
organizations, health and educational institutions, the local business community and
community members. - Maintains meeting minutes regularly and assists UNFPA partner organization
to provide follow-up activities.
● Assists the partner organization of UNFPA in the implementation of the relevant
activities that will lead to the licensing of services for victims and survivors of activities that will lead to the licensing of services for victims and survivors of
gender based violence.
● Conducts field visits and assists in establishing contacts with the community in order to
the public is informed about the available services for victims and survivors of gender
based violence (RBN) in order to reach as many women and girls as possible and
community members. - Records and reports on activities and best practices.
● Performs other related tasks as may be requested or assigned by
side of the supervisor.Criteria and required qualifications: - Secondary education or equivalent,
● Demonstrated interest in community engagement, particularly women’s empowerment and empowering the youth - Community development skills,
● Basic use of computer and office applications,
● Good communication skills,
● Volunteer experience, and community engagement experience is considered an advantage.
● Fluency in spoken and written Macedonian or Romani language is required.
● Working level of English is desirable.
Work schedule and duration of engagement:
Half-time work: The work schedule will be determined by the partner organization and
UNFPA

Benefits:
Monthly allowance for volunteer life: 208 EUR in Denar equivalent
One-time entry fee: $50
